the new and the old (part II)

booted up my very very old laptop. he hasn't been awakened for about 2 years now, since my return to singapore. this acer has been with me through my years in melbourne. he has a 33.6 modem. and like16mb of ram or something crap like that. i became a really patient person. loading some pages can take up to 5 minutes, or more. check out his missing keys... there are 7 keys missing. what happened was one day in melbourne, i fed the acer fruit juice (amongst other things). the pulpy type. very yummy. i think he liked it. but he didn't digest it too well, and the keys kinda got stuck. after some hardcore tapping to get them to work, some of the keys gave up and fell right off. i got used to tapping on C, D, F, G, R, U and L without the key covers.

on some days, my acer friend gets into a shite mood and decides to hang every 10 minutes or so. i don't think it was because of indigestion.

nonetheless, i am grateful to this little fossil for seeing me through those years.

now it is time to transfer my old files to my current baby.

BUT, the acer is so old that the external disk drive is totally fuct. there is no port for a thumb drive. there is no cable port which will fit the usual cables... and the dial-up modem cannot connect to our cable account. my data is stuck in the harddisk. haha!

my brother is now on the look out for a cable that will fit the printer cable of the acer to link to the family pc (yes, it has finally arrived!) after which, he will send it to me via email. what a merry go round.

once this ordeal is over, my acer friend will be laid to rest. forever.
