a granny flat is a tiny ground floor apartment which is attached to a house. a nice indian family owns the property. they live in the big house and give may's little residence heaps of privacy. kew is a lovely suburb in east melbourne, where there are lots of retirees and beautiful houses. it's a wonderful neighbourhood - clean and serene. it's about 20-30 minutes by tram or bus into the city.
am enjoying my stay with may. she's a dream to get along with and we're rather alike in many ways. we share a very tiny space, but it isn't claustrophobic at all. i think my final week in melbourne will be a very lovely one, thanks to this babe. :)
i've been a headless chook since the last entry. packing up to leave doc's was a huge mission because i was getting jetta express to collect boxes to get sent home to singapore from his place. this entailed much internal struggle over what i needed to have with me and what could be sent home by air-freight... and what to give away to salvos... and what to throw away in the bins. eventual freight weightage was a shocking 91kg. half of that was the weight of our 'oven' spa machines, so it's not all of my stuff that's all of the 91kg. still shocking though. i was absolutely horrified when the jetta man told me the bill.
have less than a week in melbourne now and am trying to do everything i want to do and to enjoy myself. lots of farewell teas and dinners lined up for the week, as well as a gig to catch on friday night. one small project has come in through email today so i'll be getting my paws into that tomorrow arvo. dinner date with tom after that, followed by tea with jean and charmaine on thursday arvo, and dinner date with penny, wendy and may on thursday evening. cooking dinner for may on friday evening, then the D.A.V.E the drummer gig after that. possibly koko black with sean sometime on saturday, as well as ringing the doorbell on my bourke street apartment to see if the current resident would let me take a look at my beloved home. stoker's pancake house at some point for supper. also have yet to visit the krispy kreme store with the hugeass glass windows where you can look at donuts being made.
errands left to do include buying macadamias and pine nuts for mother from victoria market on thursday or friday, collecting uni transcripts from rmit for a friend, chasing a debt for a friend, buying wine for father, and nougat for bryce. errands completed include: promite and misc supplements for val, vietnamese satay sauce for darius, donna hayes magazine for vanessa, jelly snakes for freddie, essential oils for mel, ripcurl card-holder for lennon.
have chalked up heaps more backlog in pictures... will try to get a post or two up tomorrow between work.
