false alarm

Yesterday, I saw Lucine crouching on the bottom of her jar. She was very non-responsive. So I thought it was nearing the time for her to head to spidey heaven...

I like to hold them on their last day so they don't die alone, so to speak. So I put her on my hand and there she sat for a long time. I could even walk around between rooms to get things done and she didn't budge. It was a sure sign of impending death.

Then! She suddenly woke up. LOL! And had a grand adventure on my hand. I guess she was just sleepy after all. :)

What is their lifespan?
JVdrag0nette on March 5th, 2010 04:41 pm (UTC)
Every spider species has different lifespan - unfortunately, my favourite (this one) only lives about a year... :(

Some smaller spiders can live several years, some relatively large ones may only live 6 months. Tarantulas live much longer though - the girls live up to 20 years. :) The boys live much shorter lives in comparison!

Well, I'm glad Lucine is OK for the time being anyway.
