i'm piling up all these lagging posts, so i'm going to make this a quick one. :P
kippo restaurant @ keppel club is a bustling chinese eatery. leon assures me that they serve kickass peking duck which was the purpose of our visit. this place, albeit chinese, also has a japanese menu.
salmon sashimi were generously sliced, a single serving was quite enough for both of us to go halvies on. peking duck was fabulous! crisp and savoury roasted duck skin in yellow pastry skin, in which we'd add freshly prepped spring onion pieces. dip in sauce and gobble up while trying not to make too much of a mess. two thumbs up for this!
we were conned into ordering the duck fried with spring onions and ginger. the way the waiter put it, it sounded like he was asking us what we wanted to do with the duck meat which came with the peking duck skin. well, this duck dish turned out average. and we were billed 10bux extra!
chawan mushi came rather late. it was also average. i guess there's not much that can go wrong with chawan mushi... :P
dessert was a strange lime sorbet which was really iced jelly mashed in a tall glass with tiny jello balls, topped off with a rather minimal amount of lime sorbet. quite enjoyable. i couldn't see it for myself but apparently when iced jelly was sucked through the straw by me, an intriguing swirling effect was created within the glass for the enjoyment of the botak sitting opposite me, who was eating his mango pudding.
always good fun to hangout with the botak. even better to ketchup over excellent peking duck. :)
