blast from the past
no, this is not a post about ex-boyfriends. sorry to disappoint! :P

those big, round wafer-biscuits were my absolute favourites! i must have been about 5 years old. whenever i followed mother to the provision shop, i would stand in front of the hugeass biscuit tin and eyeball these colourful bikkies until mother bought me one. one biscuit for 10 cents. :)

how many of youse have eaten any of the above as a kiddo?

The memories!! :D

I've never had those wafer biscuits before, loved the jellyfish in pri school... and the ding dang sweets we used to get from the guy who sells them at the bus terminal ;)

Speaking of malted sweets, I wonder if the old granny who sells the malt candy is still there in Holland V.

i love the ding dang sweets too! only thing is, mother called them ding ding sweets! because the sound goes, "ding ding..." :P

those malt candies which are all melty and droopy are much nicer than the ones i found here. you twirl them on a pair of wooden chopsticks and bite off as much as you want!

didn't see any old lady in HV selling malt candy. when did you last see her? if it was a long time ago, i doubt she's still err around? :P

2 years ago was the last time :P

Nah everytime someone mentions malt candy I think of her - she has the best home made stuff. And I could never walk past her without buying at least one stick.

As for the ding ding sweet - we used to buy bags of the stuff if we saw him on our way to school (when we were in the arvo sesh).

The joys of sweets in childhood ;)

oooh... i shall go and look for her then! where in HV is she usually?

i can finish a whole packet of jellyfish satay by myself. :)

Outside UOB (or is it OUB I always confuse the two) where the sports store is. She was already pretty old then so she might have passed on.

Still if she is still there - don't leave without 2 sticks of the malt candy :D:D

Speaking of being kids - do you remember Hardee's and Wendy's??
JVdrag0nette on August 4th, 2006 11:35 am (UTC)
wendy's sounds familiar... is it a food joint? have never heard of hardee's. :P

Hardee's was like the cheaper version of burger king. Their thick shake was awesome though hehe.

Wendy's was another food joint that didn't make it because of macca's and bk - now i feel ancient for remembering them ;)

i remember when KFC was like a real restaurant! with metal cutlery and people in brown uniforms. :)
